The Santa Clara Valley Fiddlers Association is a non-profit
organization dedicated to the preservation of traditional types of American
music such as old-time, bluegrass and gospel music, as played on the fiddle
and other acoustic stringed instruments.
Join us at our next monthly jamboree! Monthly jams are held on the first Sunday of each month from 1 PM to 5 PM.
Most of the year we meet at Hoover Middle School in San Jose, CA, where there is a nominal
admission charge for adults, to pay the rent.
In the summer we sometimes meet in the Rose Garden Park
on Naglee Ave. at Garden Dr. (2 blocks from Hoover School); these jams are free.
This year the July and August jams will be held in the park.

The July 1, 2012 Jam
Free Jam at the Rose Garden Park -- and a Special Event: the Costumers Guild's Fiddles and Roses party
The August 5, 2012 Jam
Free Jam at the Rose Garden Park
Our regular jams at
Hoover Middle School
usually include:
- Jamming outside from 1 to 5 pm, usually in many styles
- On-stage open-mike performances from 1:30-5 (may be interrupted for special events)
- A Beginners' Circle slow jam from 2-3
Any acoustic performer or group is welcome to sign up to perform for up to 15 minutes
on stage during our open-mike session. Listeners are always welcome.
From time to time we invite a musician or group to play on stage for a bit longer
as a featured performer. (We also occasionally invite a well-known musician
or group to play a longer, paid, concert for us.)
Adult admission to the jam is $6 for members and $8 for non-members (to help pay the rent);
children 17 and under are admitted free. (Special events may have additional charges,
and events such as workshops (e.g. our periodic KidFiddle
Youth Fiddle Workshops) and
annual Youth Fiddle Contest
will generally have a small tuition or registration fee.)
During the summer we often hold jams at the nearby Rose Garden Park. No open-mike
performances, but admission is free.
